Dolphin Island Fiji resort

December 9, 2012 by Heather

Relais & Châteaux, creator of the Guide to the world’s finest hotels and restaurants, has welcomed one of the globe’s most extraordinary private island resorts to its fold – Dolphin Island in Fiji. Relaunched a year ago, Dolphin Island is designed for the exclusive use of one to four couples. It sits like a perfect jewel just a short boat ride from Raki Raki, in the relatively remote and undiscovered area north of Fiji’s main island of Vitu Levi.
Located near some of the world’s best snorkelling and deep sea fishing, this island allows groups of friends or families to take over the island. Guests can walk around the island in under 20 minutes, and even sleep overnight in the romantic outdoor bure on the other side, one of the world’s perfect vantage points to watch a Pacific sunrise. A central pavilion overlooking an infinity pool interconnects four generous suites, blending rustic Pacific charm and understated elegance, providing a strong nod to local culture through a collection of Fijian artefacts.

Like sister properties, iconic Huka Lodge in New Zealand and Grande Provence, the award-winning wine estate in South Africa, Dolphin Island’s decor was created by leading New Zealand designer Virginia Fisher, and its tropical landscaping done by Suzanne Turley.

The tariff for Dolphin Island includes use of all equipment and facilities on the island, standard bar, wines, meals prepared from the freshest local produce and seafood, and transfers from Nadi, including one way in a float-plane.

Relais & Châteaux is an exclusive collection of 520 of the finest privately owned hotels and gourmet restaurants in 60 countries Established in France in 1954, the Association’s mission is to spread its sense of “art de vivre” across the globe by selecting outstanding properties with a truly unique character. There are no two Relais & Châteaux hotels alike in the world – each celebrates its local culture and its regional “terroir”, offering unforgettable experiences and outstanding cuisine from celebrated chefs to its guests.

Barcelona battles too many tourists

Barcelona, I love you. You’re traditional yet so stylish, inspiring and delicious. Oh, the shopping! Oh, Gaudi’s architecture! Oh, the street life!  And therein lies the problem. It has become a victim of its own success. Quality of life is so diminished, residents are fed up and something must be done. “The way of life […]
